Cheese from our neighbors – the Latvian production of Cesvaines piens, founded in 1921.

Delicious cheese for a hundred years is no coincidence! Following traditions, only the highest quality milk, the warmth of the hands and hearts of the masters give the cheese life and taste. The main distinguishing feature of Maasdam cheese is the large rounded eyes obtained during ripening under the influence of special ferment. Maasdam’s heads are rounded, up to 4,5 kilograms, covered with a crust of black color.

The taste of Maasdam is sweetish – nutty with a delicate aroma. This original taste is obtained by adding field mustard, nettle and pepper grass, as well as cloves.

Maasdam cheese is eaten in its natural form, combining with pears, nuts and grapes, it looks great in canapes on skewers. Maasdam melts well, forming a thick, viscous mass, so it is used to make sauces, toppings for meat dishes, pizza and fondue.
